In 1928, following the success of his Oscar-winning film "Two Arabian Knights," Howard Hughes and his wife, Ella, moved from the Ambassador Hotel to a Spanish Colonial residence in Hancock Park. Now, nearly a century later, this historic eight-bedroom, twelve-bathroom home is listed for $23 million, as per the Wall Street Journal.

Over the next 14 years, Hughes accomplished remarkable feats from this home, including producing hit movies like "Hell's Angels" and the 1932 version of "Scarface," breaking the world record for fastest global flight, and even dating Katharine Hepburn, who shared the residence. Designed by architect Roland E. Coate in 1926, the house's proximity to the Wilshire Country Club golf course made it an ideal choice for Hughes, an avid golfer during that time.

Purchased by Ash and Niroupa Shah in 2011, the expansive 10,179-square-foot residence underwent a modernization endeavor. The couple's goal was to integrate the living spaces, erasing the previous divisions between family and staff areas. A family room was introduced alongside the kitchen, complemented by an outdoor kitchen featuring a pizza oven and a contemporary swimming pool in the backyard. Hughes's wood-paneled study was transformed into a media room adorned with jet black lacquered walls, while his basement vault now serves as a wine cellar with a capacity of up to 2,500 bottles.

Central to the residence, an interior courtyard features cobblestone paving and includes a fireplace. The kitchen showcases a 24-foot-long island for dining, adorned with polished brass countertops and a gleaming gold-tiled backsplash. The house retains its original elements, including wood-beamed ceilings and red clay floor tiles, maintaining its authentic charm.
